“It could be said that John Wolf, Jr., vice-president of Little Wolf Cabinet Shop in New York Cty, has custom woodworking in his genes. "My great grand-father and grandfather before me were cabinetmakers in a small town between Stuffgart and Munich, Germany. My father immigrated to New York City in 195." he says. Today, the two "little Wolfs" continue their family's heritage of Building fine cabinetry and casework for high-end homes. ... John Wolf, Sr. says that the combination of two corner cabinets with a radiator cover/drawer unit below the window and a soffit across the top is well suited to the design of a typical apartment in New York City. ...
One "Old World" tradition the Wolfs definitely adhere to is building strong woodwork. They achieve this in part thanks to a set of special knives that John Wolf, Sr. bought from his father in 1922. The old knives are complemented by modern equipment.” [Read Article] -
“Ami and Andrew Talkow converted their small guest room in North Caldwell to welcome their third (and last) addition: a baby boy. A new window seat and built-ins – designed and built by Little Wolf Cabinet Shop – enhance the style and storage alon a once flat wall.” -
“Custom architectural woodworking is the province of family-owned Little Wolf Cabinet Shop since 1956. Specializing in traditional libraries (yes, enough homes have them to keep this business thriving!), Little Wolf is equally adept at creating custom kitchens, entertainment units, and more. So what are people asking for in their custom cabinetry? Father and son proprietors Johann and John Wolf profess that it's a traditional English look in mahogany with gads of molding detail. The custom work takes six weeks to complete, and clients are welcome in the woodworking shop to watch the work in progress.” -
“If you have no plans to move, you might consider installing built-in bookshelves. You won't install them personally, of course. The Wolf family will do it for you. Johann Wolf opened this Upper East Side shop in 1956... Inside, teams of carpenters toil in a haze of sawdust, constructing elaborate mahogany, sugar maple or oak shelving units, cupboards and platform beds. Some are enormous and feature built-in speakers (you can even have theim camouflaged); others haved carefully carved borders that only Uncle Willy can create. According to Johann's son John, who grew up in the shop, the family can design and install just about anything a space-starved New Yorker can imagine.”
